FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wuhan, China, Oct. 21, 2004 - CAItech's joint venture partner,
Wuhan Huazhong Numerical Control Co.,LTD.(HCNC)
won awards from both China's Ministry of Science and Technology Ministry (MOST)
and China's Ministry of Education (MOE). The Ministry of Science and
Technology is a government cabinet level agency responsible for the
implementation of national science and technology projects. One of its
important missions is to strengthen international cooperation in science and
technology with other countries. In September, the First Workshop on
Numerical Control Technology was held at HCNC for the training of NC technicians.
In addition, MOST approved HCNC to set up China's National Numerical Control
Engineering Research Center. The center represents the highest academic
research level in China doing numerical control. At the same time, the
Ministry named HCNC as part of "The Industrialization Base of the National New
and High Technology". The value of this endorsement is that HCNC will
have added visibility in pursuing government programs aimed at improving
China's industrial base.
China's State Ministry of Education (MOE), also a cabinet level department,
has identified four skilled positions where China needs to improve its regional
vocational education. These four positions are nursing, auto mechanics,
information technology and NC operators. Vocational training centers are
to be set up jointly by the national government and local governments at 160
locations throughout China for practical training of these skills.
HCNC has taken a primary role in these training centers. They conduct
an annual national competition on NC skills, the first of which was held last
month. HCNC also bids on supplying NC equipment used by the training
centers, winning over 70% of the projects which have been let to bid.
President Chen Jihong, chosen by MOST as the "National Outstanding Post-doctor",
said,"We hope to work more closely with the national universities, vocational
technical schools, special secondary schools, and with technical schools."
